THE LIGHTHORSEMAN ANOINTING
November 1st this year saw the 90 year Anniversary of the amazing cavalry charge by the 4th & 12th Australian Lighthorse Brigades at Beersheba.
Who could ever forget this stirring tale of the Australian Lighthorsemen who fought and won the Turkish stronghold at Gallipoli? What 50,000 British and Allied Troops had been unable to do, 800 Australian Lighthorsemen did in a brave and brazen dash across 6 kms of open desert. They ran ‘into the very jaws of death’, amidst a fiery battery of artillery guns, machine guns, 4500 infantry hidden in trenches and bombing from the air. Yet they rose victorious; this small band of unstoppable heroes plucked victory out of the intense heat of battle, and were to go down in history as legends and heroes of this great land..
The horses ‘smelled’ water in the wells of Beersheba, and the rest is history. May we too ‘smell the waters’ of our God-given heritage today. May we ride on fearlessy - the ‘Lighthorsemen of the Lord’ - in the face of tumult and terror to win a great and resounding victory.
God is marching on in this hour, His fierce emblazened warriors at His side, gathering momentum and strength, sweeping hypocrisy and fear aside. The battle lines are drawn. The army is about to make a fierce and terrible assault, and all hell and her minions shall reel and stagger from the fury of its might!
The tide of victory is turning and Jesus’ warriors are on the winning side. It’s time for the Warriors of Jesus to ride out together emblazened with His glory; this surely is the hour. Ride on fearless Warriors. Don’t give up because of the fight. A new day is dawning and the victory is in sight. Get dressed for battle. Ride forth with brilliant, dazzling sword - I see the enemy in my sights!
Retired Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Burke was so inspired by writings about the Anzacs (Australia & New Zealand Army Corps) during the Gallipoli campaigns, that he wrote the following around 1961:
‘There was a determination, a zest, a drive, which swept up from the beaches on Gallipoli Peninsula as the Anzacs thrust forward with their torch of freedom. As they fell, they threw their torch of freedom to those following, so their quest would maintain its
momentum. That torch of freedom has been continually thrown from falling hands and has kindled in the catcher’s souls a zeal and desire for both our individual liberty and our countries liberty.’The Lord is throwing to us today this same Torch of Freedom, that will ring out freedom and liberty to this city and this great nation. Australian infantry and cavalrymen alike have always been renowned for their tremendous courage on the battlefield. Cindy Jacobs prophesied in 2001 that the Lord was releasing a ‘Lighthorseman anointing’ in our land; an anointing of courage and fierce determination to pull down strongholds in the land, thereby releasing freedom.
